What are the key techniques for cultivating morel mushrooms?

Morchella is a world-renowned rare edible and medicinal mushroom, with a unique aroma, rich nutrition, and particularly high protein content, earning it the reputation of being the "meat among vegetables". The market price of morel mushrooms is also very high now, and the planting efficiency is good. So how should morel mushrooms be grown? as follows:

 


1. Land preparation and material cultivation

The planting site for morel mushrooms requires fertility, good breathability, and easy moisture retention. When preparing the land, first use a soil loosening machine to loosen the cultivated land to a depth of at least 20 centimeters. After loosening, draw a line to determine the width of the bed surface and the width of the bed ditch, and then use a trench digging machine to dig the bed ditch. After digging the ditch, lay the cultivation material into the ditch with a thickness of 2-3 centimeters. The method of making the cultivation material is to wet the wood chips of poplar, oak, fruit trees and other trees with water, and then sterilize them at high temperature.

 

2. Planting time

The planting season for morel mushrooms is "winter planting and spring harvesting", with planting from September to December and harvesting from March to April each year. Only one season can be cultivated per year. But the specific sowing time still depends on the climate of each region.

 

3. Cultivation methods

In order to avoid damage caused by waterlogging to morel mushrooms, the cultivation can be carried out in the form of ridges, with a ridge height of 10-15 centimeters and a width of 50-60 centimeters. In addition, during cultivation, it is important to break the bacterial strains into particles and evenly sprinkle them on the surface of the bed. Then, cover the seeds with the soil excavated during ridge formation.

 

4. Mycelial growth

The mycelium of morel mushrooms can grow under conditions of 5-25 ℃, with the optimal temperature being 15-18 ℃. After 7-20 days of sowing, the mycelium of morel mushrooms will grow on the surface of the bed to form a large amount of fungal frost. At this time, nutrient bags should be placed at a rate of about 140 kilograms per acre.

 

5. Mushroom management

After the fruiting body grows, attention should be paid to controlling the light, especially during the development of the morel mushroom fruiting body, providing it with an appropriate amount of scattered light, usually around 30% of the light is sufficient.

 

6. Timely harvesting

When the cap surface of the fruiting body of the morel mushroom is fully extended, revealing the morel like pits, it can be harvested. When harvesting, insert small bamboo slices into the soil and gently pry them upwards until the morel mushrooms loosen before harvesting.
